About the position
As the VP R&D you will be the P&L owner and responsible for the management for the R&D department, which will include commercial and technical product management and software engineering. You will work closely with our Professional Services, Customer Care and Sales & Marketing departments in aligning the product roadmaps and strategy with internal and external requirements.
As the VP R&D you will be part of the Management Team, reporting to the CEO.

Role profile
R&D Management
- Hire, professionally develop, and retain a high-quality, high-intensity R&D team.
- Leading the team to ensure on-time, on budget, high quality software delivery.
- Develop an auditable streamlined agile and standards-compliant R&D process and team using internal staff and external partners to meet skills and capacity requirements.
- Establish strong architecture capabilities to ensure the necessary benchmark levels of scalability, performance, reliability, redundancy, security and quality of each product.
- Conduct negotiation and supply chain management of embedded 3rd party software components.
- Constantly assessing and monitoring performance and proactively taking steps to improve the R&D ratio.
- Provide quarterly analysis of ongoing R&D performance (R&D ratio/trend, quality, productivity, other).
Operations Management
- Define and drive the technological vision for the Business together with the CEO.
- Shape, articulate, and execute the R&D and Product strategy.
- Make architecture decisions to ensure a strong, stable, and scalable product.
- Constantly evaluate technological advancements and innovative solutions to drive continuous product improvement.
- Using technology to create higher-value funded product advancement features.
Portfolio contribution
- Support portfolio R&D Commercialization and IP Bootcamps with lesson learnt use cases.
- Provide technology support for M&A Due Diligence if called upon.
Skills & Competences
Ideal candidates will have all of the following experience, skills, knowledge, and personal characteristics:
- 5 – 10 years as P&L leader in a software company
- Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders through clear and concise written and verbal communication
- International/European responsibility and experience
- Energy industry domain knowledge
- Understanding of Agile software development methodologies
- Strong analytical skills in combination with strategic, action-oriented mindset
- Team player and outstanding ability to work with and through others
- High energy and sense of urgency
- High curiosity and ability to investigate and learn new domains and technologies
- Ability to travel occasionally
